We just got back to Betania from a long day of ministry. Everyone just went to bed so you're stuck with me on the blog today. Today was the best day yet. We began by going to Villa Zumbi and putting on an Easter carnival. We had a couple hundred kids show up for the event. All the students and leaders had a great time. Our goal today was for each person to try and connect with a few children as we went through the day. And that's what happened. We were able to just hang out and love on some of the most beautiful kids on the planet... really, they are. I can't wait for the students to get back and tell you all about it. We were also able to go to the park adjacent to the church and play soccer with a ton of kids. It was a great day!
At the end of the day we split up and went to 2 different churches to minister. The majority of Revolution went to the church in Villa Zumbie and the Spirit of God moved in a mighty way. It was powerful. Rachel led worship (with Nick P on drums, Christian on bass and Gabriel on background vocals), the Drama Team performed "Sweep Me Away" (yeah, that's right... we went old school. lol!) and the Lord gave me a word for the pastor and the church that caused the service to totally go in a way none of us expected. The majority of the church was in the altar weeping. It was an honor to be in that atmosphere and to be used by God like we were tonight. You would have been so proud of all the students. The way they led, not just in service tonight but throughout the day... I'm truly humbled that God is allowing us to have the students here and in this environment. He's really working in all of our lives. After service we went to eat at an all you can eat pizza place and these kids can definitely put some food away! Daniel ate the biggest plate of food in the history of the world. Nick M had fried chicken hearts and loved them (he said they tasted like seafood chicken nuggets... yuck!). And Carmen, if you're reading this, he's not been injured at all yet! Although he is adventurous and come close a few times (just kidding, he's a great young man). Besides a little sunburn and a few bug bites everyone is doing great. Oh yeah, and by the way, there needs to be a limit on how many teenage boys should be allowed to stay in one room... I'm smelling things I've never smelt before. It's just not right! lol!
Tomorrow we are going into one of the schools in Villa Zumbi to share Jesus. Yeah, that's right... Jesus. Not a watered down, positive pep talk on obeying your parents, staying away from drugs and not drinking and driving (all of which are good things) but an authentic Gospel presentation of how God loves them. There will be 600 or so children in the school we're speaking at tomorrow, so please pray for us so that they will have a clear understanding of what we're sharing. It gonna be another great day!
Love Ya!
Jim
